Super Typhoon Bavi made landfall Monday, July 6, passing directly over Rota in the Northern Mariana Islands around 8 a.m. local time, with sustained winds over 150 mph. Guam and nearby islands also reported major damage from the storm.

Local media reported on Tuesday that the national average prices reached 1.8 euros (1.91 U.S. dollars) for gasoline and 1.87 euros (1.98 U.S. dollars) for diesel respectively at self-service pumps, which marked an increase of more than 9 percent in both fuels in just a few days. In the first days of 2023, the national average price for full-service gasoline stood at 1.95 euros (2.07 U.S. dollars) per liter while that for full-service diesel stood at 2.02 euros (2.14 U.S. dollars) per liter.
